  This obsession with 20th-century British art is an illusion. It is also insidiously conservative. It offers a vision of proper, serious British modern art . An exhibition of drawings and watercolours curated by Geoffrey Grigson in and drawn from the British Council Collection. This exhibition was a mainstay of the touring exhibition programme and underwent various revivals during its lifespan.
